One of the unfortunate effects of being exposed to testosterone long term for many transgender women is hair loss. Some of our members have expressed an interest in seeing more content on wigs. Well, guess what? You're in luck!

Our new fashion partner, En Femme Style, has a great selection of wigs. Looking for a specific color? They've got it covered. What about my face shape? My face is shaped like a dumpster that's been hit by semi truck. Which wig would work best for me? Great questions. They have a super handy guide for matching wig styles to face shapes.

If any of our members purchase a wig from En Femme, I encourage you to write a review of the buying process and the experience you have with the products.

On the subject of wigs, I bought a new wig yesterday. It wasn't online from En Femme (sorry, Katie) but rather from a real nice shop in St. Petersburg Florida. A friend from a support group that I have attended for years had recommended this place to me. I called and made an appointment for yesterday. My wife and I drove up to St. Pete, and met with Kellie at Wig Villa. Kellie was super friendly and super helpful. I probably tried on 7 or 8 different wigs before I selected the one I purchased. She even trimmed a little off the ends of my old wig to freshen it up. The entire time she referred to me as Valerie, using "she" and "her" pronouns when she was talking to my wife about me. I've owned several wigs over the years, and I've bought online before, but like a lot of things I just prefer the approach of trying it on before I buy it.

If you live in or near St. Petersburg Florida, I would highly recommend Kellie at Wig Villa.

Valerie, there's a wig shop almost across the street from Germain Toyota in Bonita Springs that cater to trans women. I went there one time before I was free to go there as Donna to scout it out and they have two women there who are very enthusiastic to serve you.

Have not gone there yet but plan to when my money situation settles down. I had many emergency exoenditures occur since my wife and I separated, darn!

Thank you for the information, Donna. Maybe the group could start a page of businesses that are trans-friendly.

Valerie. this would be pretty involved, because we have members all across the US, Canada, Europe and Australia.
Like you two are the only members who are in Naples, I am the only one in the Fort Myers area, and it is similar across the entire forum.

Additionally, some members, including me, do not shop anymore for trans specific items, and I would not even know, if a store is trans friendly or not.

I think the best way is to do it peer to peer in the same area, like you and Donna do.

Hugs

Valerie, I found another place to add to that list. Below is an exchange of email between me and Naples Makeup Artistry. Just start reading from the bottom up to understand it. They would be very happy to serve TG's. A bit expensive though but they do makeup for bridal parties. http://www.naplesmakeupartistry.com/ It appears they don't have a shop because there is no address on their website, so they come to you. You could come to my place if you need to.

I would like to try them though once I am full time so I can take some pictures with different outfits, and then go out somewhere, something I can't do now because my condo neighbors don't know I'm transgender yet and might see Donna coming or going.

Maybe I could do the wig store first and then do the makeup all the same day, wow, what a combination!!!

I could not find my initial email to Brandy but in it I told her I was a transgender woman and was inquiring if they serve us.

Donna

My pleasure!

Wow! Thank you so much Brandy.

I am not quite ready yet as I am in the beginning stages of
transition, but it is so comforting to know that I can come, probably in a few months.

With me,I had a tough time finding a good wig shop at first. Was kicked out of 5 of them that treated me like crap.I now go to one that treats me right and the sales ladies know me well.Went in today and came out good.I like the long, medium and short length wigs.Depends on the mood what I want to wear when I dress as Debra.Decided to wear a short pixie cut wig today buying 3 new pixie cut wigs that I ended up replacing.I buy the good wigs, had problems with the cheap wigs

Wigs are one of those things that I'd never buy on-line. Fitting them on, seeing and feeling what they look like are really important to me, especially as the next one I buy will probably be a topper which will have to blend with my natural hair. If En Femme Style were in my city I'd happily make a point of checking the out.
