We thought he would not get elected the first time around, and he did. He still is the strong man of the Repucs, and if he does not do it DeSantis will. And that guy is even worse!
A president has the say over Medicare and Medicaid, and can make them to refuse trans medicine and surgeries, and he can influence states to become more homophobic/transphobic.

DeSantis and Trump and anyone else that runs will go further and further to out hate the rest. Along with Medicare and Medicaid they'll threaten to withhold federal funds for totally unrelated things to states that don't fall in line.

The GOP has been trying to end Medicare and SSA for years. Trump/DeSantis would be forcing the US into tyranny. I can't see the people of our country allowing that to happen. We would no longer be the USA. We have already become The Divided States of America. Our world status and wealth would cease. We need to be sure there are better candidates to choose from this next election.

Sadly, I can see that happening. 50% of Americans like Trump. He is a dufus, but he has handlers who read the crowd for him and push him out in front of it. DeSantis is smart enough to figure out for himself which way the crowd is leaning and to get in front of it. As long as either of them continue with the hate speech, the so-called "Christian" right will back them, financially and at the ballot box. If someone were to eliminate both of those candidates, their backers would just find another puppet.

As long as we have the flawed system with the electoral college it's possible.
Democrats have won the popular vote all but one election since 2000, yet we've had 12 years of republican presidents since then.

Also the senate gives way too much power to small states. A California senator represents a vastly larger number of people than a Montana senator yet the have the same vote in the Senate.
