I just washed my hair, and had the first encounter with creating a super tangle knot! Almost the entire left side of my head was a gigantic tangle after I washed my hair! I never have experienced that before. I was able to detangle most of it, but could not detangle the last section. Amber is now working on this with applied coconut oil and all secrets of female long hair wearers. She told me that is the result of wearing the hair in a pony tail for many days in a row now. Somehow the hair starts to create it's own dreadlocks. I am sitting here having coconut oil soaking into the knot, and have to hope that she will be able to get it out again. I hope I will not smell rancid for the next few days, because I sure have no desire to wash the hair over again!

This is another thing what cis women learn growing up, and we have to take a crash course in our old days to learn about those things!

I hope the coconut oil works! Let me know if you have good luck with it please.

Instacure is a good detangling product. I use it quite a bit when my hair gets wind blown and knotted up.

But yeah long hair does have its disadvantages. Like pinning your head to the back of the couch when sitting. Then there was the time years ago when the back of my blow dryer came off (Yes, I know I should’ve replaced it long before that) and sucked the ends of some of my hair into the blow dryer. That really hurt. I ended up having to cut the hair - nothing else I could do. Omg! Was I pissed lol.

My hair is longer than it has ever been, but not long by female standards. So far, I love having it long. However, I don’t know how manageable it will be when it’s six inches longer or more.

Long hair is awesome but a pain. It’s kinda a love/hate thing. But there’s so much you can do with long hair...it’s totally worth it.

I’m curious to see what mine is like when longer. I always believed I had very straight hair. Then I grew it out and discovered it is wavy and kind of curly. I really want to see what an extra six inches is like.

Your hair will be amazing longer. It already has nice curls and is thick. You should definitely let it go another 6” imho. At the very least it’ll let you see if you like it longer.

I had to laugh when you said pinning your head in place by your hair. This has just started happening more to me. My biggest problem is parting my hair in the middle, the few hairs always seem to come down from the middle and get in my face. They are the transplant hair not yet long enough to get under control with headband.

My problem is I don't know how to do anything with it. I've got pony tail down and semi successful pigtails a couple times. Other than that I'm lost.

I never part my hair in the middle, but always almost on the left side. This way I have enough hair length, to kind of keeping it out my eyes, and more important, out of my mouth!

The coconut oil trick worked, we left it soaking through the knot, and after about 30 minutes, Amber started to wok on it, and got everything worked out without the need to cut any hair! I have to rinse it tomorrow morning to make sure I don't smell rancid.

My mistake was that I left the pony tail or a bun in overnight, because that makes it easier to put my Cpap on. Sleeping on this bun really started to create some kind of dreadlocks . I have to find a better way to put my Cpap on in the future.

You simply need an Amber! All your hair an makeup problems are solved like magic, if you are hosting an Amber!

All of my Ambers (my wife or kids) have vastly different hair than I so are not able to help.

I have very thin individual hair, which is as straight as a straight edge. I had my beautyshop put some kind of a perm in hat is similar in looks to a washboard. THis gives the hair a lot of volume and structure. You cannot blow dry it after washing, because that would flatten the structure down. You can comb it into the general do you want, and let it air dry after lots of towelling. You can curl the ends with a curling iron, to get some locks into them, or you could roll some foam rollers in and let them set overnight. That will result in pretty wavy hair, after you brushed it out a little.

I hope this helps a little. if not, you should go to a beauty shop and ask them what would be the best maintenance do for your type of hair.

I need to keep my hair long as it disguises my wide shoulders and male face. I don't mind the care so much as it is a bit affirming, but I do have the associated problems as described already. I have had the pleasure of swallowing some hairs with food and having to pull the hairs back out of my throat! Windy days are just not fun, either outside, or at home getting the tangles out. But the most annoying thing I get is a small tight tangle in the front hairs when I am lap swimming. I guess tumble turns form a knot, and after 120 laps it is impossible to untangle.

Allie

Allie, try to put some coconut oil onto your hair, prior to swimming. That stuff is pretty water resistant, and might prevent this tangle in the front, or may make it easier to untangle it.

I had been planning on a trim in March before they closed everything here. Might have to ask about the perm thing. I do have a curling iron but don't think I'm very good with it.

Your wife probably can help you with this.
Now that my hair is fully dry and untangled today, my hair looks as full as a lions mane! Doing all kinds of stuff with it, is easy.

I hear you sister.... Mine is just getting long enough now, I can almost put in a ponytail but I’m not sure how to style well. Moni said it above....my hair also seems to fall in my face but looks ridiculous pinned back. Also, I have a Texas problem .... The intense heat and humidity . No matter what I do my hair goes flat . Plus sweaty hair never looks good .

Either way I love having long hair I am absolutely infatuated with it. If I don’t use conditioner it will tangle up as long as I use that I’m fine . The only time it sucks is when I’m at work in Lie mode
( gets hot under that Hat)

Nicole, Texas is an arid climate compared to southwest Florida. We have daily rain here, every day during the summer months. And that is the reason that I had a beautician to do this kind of perm for me. It prevents the hair from going flat!

My wife has never touched a curling iron in her life. Not something she would ever need, her hair is plenty curly naturally.

Practice, practice, practice! I started out with my partner curling mine. Got tired of her yanking hairs out. I took over and did it myself. It becomes like second nature but at first it feels like you are using your left hand looking at yourself upside down and backwards. It is time consuming but I do it because the look is more feminine than straight hair for my face. Curls help with longer faces I think.
