I'm binge watching all of @Katie 's episodes on TransRefuge! This has become my refuge! Thank you so very much! ❤️

You get 10 points if you can guess where my name Lady J comes from! (Hint: the 80s had the best cartoons) although 90s cartoons weren't too shabby either.

To introduce myself,

Hello! I am Jenna ❤️

I am 43 years old and have been married for 15 years. I came out to my wife as Trans on May 1, 2021. I also like men. Either I'm a gay male with very good fashion sense or I'm a straight woman? I don't know, I'm confused. We're in marriage counseling, but I am not sure if I want to end my marriage or not.

Now because of Covid-19, my wife and I are around each other 24/7 and I feel like I'm in prison. Not the good kind either.

My wife is highly intelligent, and I admire her greatly. I do care for her and love her dearly. We haven't had sex in over three years. I'm not attracted to women anymore. I'm just not wired like that. I highly respect women. I mean, geez I want to be a woman!

There was a time when I was in college, me and a friend of mine went to a gay club to hang out. We both considered ourselves straight at the time. I wanted to see a Drag Show and didn't want to go alone. Even then, I loved crossdressers! My friend's mom called my parents and told them where we went. My parents lost it. They went out looking for me came to the club after we left and caused a scene. When they got home, Mom cried and Dad yelled at me and said if I was gay he would take me out in the field behind my house and shoot me in the head with his rifle. That was from my own father. So, of course I said I was straight, just out of survival. Buried it down as deep as I could. That was 1997 in Tennessee. There's a reason they are in Tennessee and I am here in DC. They vote Democrat too, try to wrap your head around that one.

My marriage didn't start out like that. We were pretty close at one time. I still love her very much. She has always been far right conservative. Irish-Catholic family. Her Grandfather worked in OSI and made a living disgracing and removing homosexuals in the US Air Force. She is a thorough Trump Supporter. I guess opposites attract.

I know this will devastate my wife. She may try to hurt me financially because she may feel like I hurt her. That's what we are trying to figure out in the counseling. I have a gender therapist, she has a therapist, and we are seeing a marriage counselor. Therapists hit the lottery with Covid, I think. I want us to be friends and support each other. I just don't know if that is possible.

Thank You for Your help!

Hi Jenna,

Welcome to TR. We are a friendly bunch and you will find support here. If you are confused, look at my profile name. :D I came here a little confused myself. Many of us have "buried" who we are, even to ourselves, for decades. I have been married almost as long as you have been alive. It was still very hard for us for awhile when I came out to my wife.

Hugs,
Mike

Hi Jenna, and welcome here in the refuge.
If you feel you are a woman, being interested in men makes you straight/hetero. This trans thing turns everything onto it's head.
I used to feel very hetero when I was a guy, later I transitioned, and all of a sudden I was a homosexual, a lesbian! Go figure that one out. Many years later, I decided to have bottom surgery, and after a while, I became interested in guys, and I am now a bisexual woman!

I can't say much abut your other stuff, because i am intersex, and people like I had a different experience.

Hi, Jenna, I'm glad you found our little place. I saw your question on one of the videos asking for links to studies. I am pretty certain that Linde and Allie have both posted several links on here at various points. I can try to hunt them down when I have time, but it might take a while. I'm a super busy person most of the time.

Welcome to our Refuge Lady Jenna! Like most of us, you have challenges ahead of you, but you now have access to a lot of people who have already walked this rocky path, and are willing to share their experiences. It can be quite confusing, for everyone, so here are a few links I hope will help! Useful Links

We are all on this crazy roller coaster, welcome aboard!

Hugs,

Allie

Hi Jenna, my name is Moni! I see a lot of parallels in our stories. Hope to chat sometime soon. Thank you for opening up and sharing a bit of your story. Oh, Tennessee is the worst. I live in MD which is really a good place to be trans. See you around I hope!

Jenna! Welcome!

I’m a recent TR arrival as well. I’ve been on MTF HRT for a little over 11 weeks now, so the medical adventure is just beginning for me, and there is nothing quite like undergoing puberty for a second time at age 57.

Thank you so much for sharing the story of how you came to choose your name. I’m always fascinated by this. Outside of the Trans Community (and Witness Protection Program), how many people actually get to do this? It’s kind of a big deal. Love your reasons for choosing Love and Sinclair, and I think Jenna is a very beautiful feminine name. And taken as a whole I think your name flows very nicely. (I must confess however that your cartoon reference is beyond the scope of my experience, but look forward to your tutelage on the subject. No points for me I guess.)

Clearly your wife isn’t the only highly intelligent woman in your marriage. Even though I’m lesbian and it sounds like not quite your cup of Oolong or Kona blend or whatever your favorite warm beverage happens to be, and for whatever it may be worth (probably absolutely nothing), there are very few things more attractive to my particular sensibilities than an intelligent woman with a sense of humor. (Just ask @Monica. She’s already assembled a pretty decent dossier on me.)

I’m so incredibly sorry to hear about all that you’ve been through with your parents and wife. Please know that you aren’t alone with your Wonderful Otherness anymore, and just about everyone here has had to deal with some variation of what you’ve been through at some point in their lives, including me. In the short time I’ve been at TR, it’s become abundantly clear to me that genuine kindness and support are in no short supply here.

I wish you peace and clarity as you find your way forward, and much better days ahead Jenna. I’m absolutely delighted you’re here.

Namaste Friend.

Don't let Lexxi kid you, she bites! I live south of Westminster.

(Just ask @Monica. She’s already assembled a pretty decent dossier on me.)
Let's face it EV, you do give the research department on the 12th floor plenty to document. Now, I've been meaning to ask you about that time on The African Queen in Casablanca. Yeah, that's it!

Geeeeez Moni, I see you've been busy doing the math again.

Less Katharine Hepburn, more Ingrid Bergman. Hope that helps.
