Katie, I was labouring my bike up a slight hill recently, and a jogger passed me! This never worried me as I am simply not competitive! I don't love bicycling, but it is less impact than jogging on my worn out joints!

Hugs,

Allie

Each time I have physical therapy, the torturers have me to pedal a stationary bike for 2 miles. I hate this, because they follow with other stuff that makes me (or my poor muscles) hurt even more! And I have to do this 3 times a week!

Hugs

Didn't feel like getting all aero about things. Just rode the whole time on the hoods. Still managed a pretty good pace. 15.4 miles at 17.5 mph.

Took it a little easier today, my legs felt a little tired. 15.2 miles at 16.5 mph.

That’s happened to me several times. Young people and their speedy ways. Hate ‘em. They’ll get theirs!

It rained all of last week. I don't just mean it rained a little every day. It rained continuously all week. I think we had about 8 inches total in 5 days. Andthat, of course, meant no biking.

I got out after work today and rode. It felt good, but I could tell even after just one week of not riding that I felt slower.

Forgot my shirt that I was planning on riding in. Since I was riding around in my work polo, I decided to take it easy. Lowered the tire pressure a little for more comfort and kept the cadence and effort light. Hard to believe that 15.2 mph is now my leisure riding pace. That used to be going fast for me.

It's always a headwind and uphill when you ride :ROFLMAO:

I do about 200 miles a week on the road nd to me the critical thing is to get your endurance up SO THAT you can fight wind when needed. Developing an inner pace so that your heart rate and cadence are best aligned to your preferred gear. And really, riding much over 85º is not great.

@Jenniferwill I'm not a fan of hot weather at all. I am known for opening the windows when I shower down to about 15 degrees F. I am a cold weather woman. I wish I had time for 200 miles per week. I have been doing about 100 miles per week lately. And yes, keeping your cadence in a comfortable range using the gears is what it's all about. My oldest son just figured that out about a month ago and now he can ride twice as fast for twice as long.

Today's ride was cut short. I thought I might be able to squeeze in a full ride before the storm hit, but I found myself on the edge of the front soon into my ride and put the pedals down to beat the storm in the opposite direction. I got back to my truck, loaded up the bike, and jumped into the cab just as the rain started pouring.

I got out for a quick 9 mile ride after work. It was chilly at 37 degrees. Nearly all of my body was comfortable, but tennis shoes were a poor choice. I’ll fix that on the next ride, I already know what the solution is from past winters when I would bike commute year round.

In wintertime, I head indoors and on to Zwift for A LOT of riding on my trainer. It's really an awesome way to keep up the fitness and feels just like the road!

@Jenniferwill I head outdoors in wintertime. I commuted 3.5 miles to my office this morning in 29 degree (-1.7 C) weather. It felt great and I felt really invigorated afterward.

I rode to the office this morning and back home in the afternoon. Not really hard or long rides, but it’s nice to ditch the car once in a while. Tomorrow I have a therapist appointment that isn’t safely or quickly accessible by bike, and Friday my wife has a colonoscopy, so this might be the only commute for the week.

Good for you, Katie. Glad you are keeping up your cycling. I’d love to have “girly” bike gear! You are looking VERY pretty!
