Hello everyone, so happy to see so many of my favorite ladies again! Thank you @Lexxi for the invitation.

I'm a 63 year old (omg, really?!) FTM. I'm now 19 months on HRT and 7 months post top surgery.

Like so many others I knew I was different and felt I inhabited the wrong body. But, in the 70's what was there to do about it. I suppressed everything and just lived my life as best I could. About 2.5-3 years ago I started to really think that transition was possible. The more research I did the more I believed it. Went to my therapist, came out to Mom, asked my PCP for a referral for testosterone, saw the Endo and a gender therapist. Came out to my best friend (with immediate acceptance) and immediate family members. No bad reactions, I'm a lucky guy. Came out to more friends with positive results.

Changes have been slow, it is what it is. I used to get "Sir, oh sorry Ma'am", now more and more I get "Sir" without the qualifier. I attribute that to my now flat chest and some noticeable facial stubble that takes about 4 days to get!

Living the dream!

Hi I'm Perry, so happy to be here!

Welcome to uh er Trans Refuge. I am glad you found us and have joined the site. For your special needs, we have an expanded FTM section but we will enjoy your company elsewhere on the site. Look around a bit and let us know if you need anything.

Welcome here with us Perry, and Merry Christmas!
As Dena said, we try to be as inclusive as possible.  I think for some of us, slow beard growth is a thing we have to live with, I like it, and would wish my facial hair would grow even slower, but I have to tackle it about once every 4 days.  Yours might grow faster, once testosterone really takes over, but we never know for sure how an individual body reacts to hormones introduced from the outside!

I wish you the best possible results!

Hey Perry,

Welcome to the site. I've been waiting for you to show up since yesterday. I knew you got my message when I saw that you had joined the site. I'm not positive about this, but I think you just might be our very first FtM. If so that means that by the time the others show up you'll be our elder statesman and will forever have bragging rights. ;)

So are you having a Merry Christmas? Do you have a lot of family plans, or do you do something different?

I'm getting ready to go down and see my daughter at her mom's house. Her mom and I made a pact when we got divorced that we'd spend our Christmas's together so our daughter will have some kind of normalcy. Thankfully my wife's new husband is cool and doesn't mind keeping the tradition going. He's a Trumper though so I have to watch what I say,  ;D ;D.

About 8 years ago (I think) one of them down there got a Christmas trivia game so we play that every year. The game got to be so important that my ex stepson even went out and had a trophy made for the winner. It's funny because he was a fan of super hero movies at the time, so the trophy is Wolverine ripping his shirt off the way Brandi Chastain did after the U.S. won the World Cup. ;D

Of course the winner has to bring the trophy back every year so it can be awarded to the next winner. In all the years we've played no one has ever won it back to back, in fact no one has ever won it multiple times before. I'm hoping to change that this year by winning it for my second time. My first win came three years ago. So keep your fingers crossed for me, hahaha.

Anyway I hope you're having a Merry Christmas no matter what you're doing. I'm really glad you joined here. I'll talk to ya later.

xoxo

Hi, Perry, welcome to the site!

[member=9]Lexxi[/member] , James Franco was the first guy to join. I should give him a nudge and see if he's going to be on soon. He is blind and uses a screen reader to access the site, so it can be a bit cumbersome for him. But he's a great guy, I've known him from Quora for a couple of years and he is experienced with helping people overcome suicidal feelings and thoughts. I hope he becomes more active here, since that may come in very handy.

[member=37]Perry[/member] , sorry to spend so much of the post talking about someone else. I am really glad to be seeing more guys joining. It was beginning to become a real hen party in here!

Sorry about that...I didn't realize that he'd joined. I'll watch for any of his posts so I can welcome him. But you're right it's great that the guys are starting to show up.

Hi @Lexxi,

Sounds like you had a nice Christmas, congrats on winning the trivia! Enjoy your bragging rights! I visited with my niece & her family for most of the day. She lives about 50 miles away but for once the traffic was not bad either direction. Back to work yesterday & today.

I try to introduce them to something new when I visit. This time it was mulled cider, so very delicious especially with the added shot of bourbon! I'll be heading back on Sunday to pick up my great-niece & great-nephew (11 & 12) for a 2 night trip to Morro Bay. We went last year during their winter break so I guess it's now "our thing".

I sent an email to your personal account middle of last month, let me know if you didn't get it.

Talk soon, Perry

Hi Perry,

I just looked for that email...I'm so very sorry that I missed it. Not to make an excuse or anything, but there actually is an excuse for why I missed. When I started my new Facebook account I forgot to turn off the email notifications and I got something like 89 emails at one time. Yours was right in the middle of them.

So I will get busy answering the lovely email you sent to me. Please forgive the lateness of my reply. Hopefully I'll have your response within an hour or so tonight.  :)

The new tradition with your niece and nephew sounds really special to them. Well I'm certain that it's special to you too, so I hope you three have a blast. They're in the age now where the memories you make with them will stick with them forever. It wouldn't surprise me if their children (once they get old enough to have them) don't learn all about those special trips with you.

I'm really glad you had a good time with your niece on Christmas day. I know how much she means to you!!

Okay I'm gonna sign off now so I can begin a letter to one of my special friends.  ;)

I'll talk to ya soon,

xoxo
