I would use the snow to preserve food. Do you have propane or charcoal foot to grill with? Snares to catch rabbits, maybe? Wild pheasant and a sling shot? Get creative Girly!

I'll refrain from my east coast comments, but we do have electricity!
I thought all Texans owned at least one shotgun? Should be able to get some nice pheasants and quail with that. I think Kingsford works better ffor foul.

OK now that I’ve gotten through all of my replies, I had a good zoom meeting last night that gave me confidence, I also got to speak with 2 great friends on Friday to calm me down, I will now show you the other thing I do to give me perspective and prepare my mind to deal with morons. I write....... I figure it’s a constructive way to vent. I know how to be professional and I plan on doing that at the meeting tomorrow morning. I consider all that I’ve gone through in the last couple of days to be great training.

Yes.....There is a bit of anger here and pain. What he said to me really hurt my feelings, it made me sob on the side of the road. Next time I cry I want to be for a better reason. without further ado here is what I wrote.

Right to live......( ode to the manager who doubts me)

I was born with a metabolic condition, that I need corrected in order to live
I suffer with this birth defect, So why is it I’m the one asking others, to forgive

I was born transgender and lived most of my life in complete denial
Always Worried my family and the rest of the world would find me vile.

I was innocent in this, I didn’t want to be different, I never had a real choice
I’m finally coming out, becoming whole, to live my truth, time to hear my voice

Some manager at work thinks I’m going to be a joke or a funny drag queen
Would you say the same thing to your wife or daughter, are you that mean

I am a woman just the same as them, I deserve respect & support not doubt
more than that I’m a proven professional, I let my record speak for itself

You say you worry about your customers and how they’re going to feel
Thank God I’m going to them instead of you, I actually care for them for real

Seriously I have done everything I could do to promote this company for years
I should be praised and promoted, given a fair chance, not end up in tears

The pain you caused me with your words is more than you’ll ever understand
I wanted to attack back, scream out, beat you down, bury your ego in the sand

But I’m better than that, I’m better than you, I’ll take you on with my brain
Oh look at the big tough guy, you think your Tarzan, but the winner will be Jane

You’re just a bully, I make you uncomfortable, maybe you’re just scared
I’m going to succeed in spite of you, just watch me & Ill still have my Hair

Come Monday morning I will prove to you that I’ve still have got what it takes
I’m sure you’ll try to say all the right things to me , but I know that you’re a fake

I’ve been nervous up to now just thinking whether I could even still do my job
Thank you for giving me a new perspective, time to get busy, I will no longer sob

I will prove that a transgender woman can be successful and happy in spite of you
Go away now, start to use that thing, It’s 3 foot above your ass ....that would be new

OK ...now I’ve got that off my chest....... I’ll have to move this to my writing poem and song blog at some point, but I needed to vent. I’ve got a big meeting in the morning, an even bigger one later this week in court.
Operation BE Nicole View attachment 1551” countdown is going, 5 days away to the start. Get ready world this woman is coming..

Hugs
Nicole

Update....so it’s day two of the fun.... it’s 43° here ....inside my house. 1613510727871.png
Let’s just say sitting on the toilet seat was not a pleasant experience. I felt a little bit like the kid in Christmas story that put his tongue on the pole.
1613510785589.png
Either way I got some blankets, grabbed some food ( One pizza place in town was actually open ) trying to power up all my equipment as I sit in my car right now. i’m lucky I still have 3/4 of a tank left.
Ok time to Reply...1613511013766.png
Any chance there are any generators to be found? Even a small one would power your fridge and portable devices.
I can’t find a generator anywhere within two hours, same goes for hotel rooms all booked, also no Coleman stoves.
I don't think it is common in my area, but I wired a diesel generator up to my house with a transfer switch. When I woke up this morning at 7 it was 6 below here, but we still have power. Some power companies are doing rolling blackouts across our state, but so far mine isn't.

I don't remember it being this cold since I've lived here, but I experienced several degrees colder a few times when I still lived in IN.

Hugs,
Mike
See that means you have talent and actually know what to do my only talent seems to be talking and making food in the kitchen, right now with no power I can’t go to the kitchen and there’s no one to talk too... major respect for you giving yourself power that way.... and yes this is the coldest it has ever been here
I just saw on the news this morning, Nicole, you folks are really having some serious problems over there. I mean tornados, blown powerline transformers sending fire balls down the powerlines, freezing icy snow, power outages. Geezz! Thank God earthquakes are rear there. I hope they can get your power back up and running soon. Stay safe and warm hun.

Warm Hugs!
Yep fire will be raining down from heaven soon, apparently after I went on Facebook and declared I’m transgender the Bible belt people must’ve finally found out and they’re coming to get me. I’d say Satan is here with all of his demons except it’s too damn cold and I actually believe Satan could be gay so he won’t mind.
OK now I’m just rambling on some weird tangent and I don’t even know why either way yes it’s very cold and ice storms are on the way tomorrow

Nope no propane or charcoal don’t have anything to hunt with. Remember what I’ve been telling you all I’m a girly girl I never knew how to do any of that typical or stereo typical guy stuff I sucked at it. And yes you at least have electricity although the last time I was home my house flooded to the second floor and there was no electric for a month so let’s just say the world can suck. I am using the snow at the moment for some of the food definitely for my drinks
I thought all Texans owned at least one shotgun? Should be able to get some nice pheasants and quail with that. I think Kingsford works better ffor foul.
I don’t own a gun...... I don’t shoot guns .......I’m not even sure how to shoot at The carnival.I could let my cat out to go chase one but she doesn’t like the snow. Also I still have to clean up my barbecue pit from when I burned my hat still.
Did I do it?

You found it ...you did it ....good job.... welcome to the site I hope you can get some real information here to help you get through this and allow @Karajo to become herself. We all love her and we’re so glad that you’re trying to be supportive and simply get answers. You’ll find everybody here has their own story in their own journey. So another words please don’t judge everybody on my ridiculous crap. Most people here are well-adjusted, intelligent, warm hearted, well spoken , decent human beings. If you have any questions about anything let me know.

OK I got a let this charge for a little bit. Prepare myself for another night of cold. I’m hoping with more blankets I can sleep through the night. I’m also hoping that when my cat curls up with me tonight she doesn’t keep farting like she did last night.( Dead serious I could have killed the cat) I don’t even remember her ever farting before why would she start now......

I will update everyone if I get power back or if I just get too bored.

Nicole I think I might disregard Donica's advice if I were you. First of all peasants are so slow and bad at hiding that hunting them isn't very sporting. The only advantage to hunting that species is they're literally all over the place and super easy to find.

But I'm quite positive it's illegal to hunt for them-even in Texas. LOL

My goodness girl do I have to teach you everything. When one has to sit on a freezing cold toilet seat, one needs to first sit on said seat with her sweat pants on for about 10 minutes. Your body heat will warm the seat up in about that amount of time. With that said...don't forget that you're still wearing your pants and decide to try and go before taking them down. That could get very messy. Hahahahahaha

I can’t put on sweatpants and wait 10 minutes, when you gotta go pee you got to go Pee. I just be there doing the shakes.......”dancing around,.... waving my hands in the air.... like I just don’t care”.....” shaking my Badonkadonk”.... when the mood hits to pee you got to pee....Lol... speaking of which.

Quick update I’m still alive, it’s coming up on 11 PM central time here in Texas, A new ice storm with sleet is now coming down outside. Power is still off. Inside my house is about 48° at the moment. He got down as low as 43° inside the house last night. I got a Tell you this whole thing is getting old. No lights, no TV, no computer, (luckily I still have an iPad/phone and a car that will charge it) I can’t cook, and I have no warm water so I can’t exactly take a shower. I feel like I’m on a reality show where you like pay somebody to have to live as a homeless person for like one week. The good news is I’m much better off than anybody who is homeless. I At least have a shelter, I just don’t have any heat on. I do have a car to drive and I still have money to buy something if anything is open.

Either way I just have to keep moving forward, it’s bound to get better sometime. Good night folks.

Hugs

Maybe this will help. Also a can of cooking oil (cristo) with a wick in it will make enough heat for a vehicle to stay warm.. layers! Thin at first and thicker as you go. Tin foil. Reflects heat. Also newspaper stuffed in your pants is a great insulator.

We got hit with an ice storm/blizzard one year and our power was out for 6 days. It was HORRIBLE!!! Our only saving grace was we had plenty of food...and a fireplace. I was able to keep the living room right around 60 degrees or so, but I had to feed the fire probably once every two hours or so.

I had a good way to let me know when it was time...when I got to shivering real hard I'd wake right up and load the fire place back up. lol

I hope you hang in there...please know you have all of us rooting for you. I hope you can feel the good vibes we're sending your way. Here's another little tip that might help. Try to sleep as much as you can. One it fill fuel your body and mind, and two when you're sleeping time just passes so much quicker.

If things get really bad though, just head over to Chiquita's house and see if he'll let you be the baby spoon. That'll warm you right up. hahaha

Nicole, you're making me feel quite smug. :sneaky: Sorry!
Where I live the temperature almost never gets below 32°F and rarely as low as 40°F. We're in the middle of a run of days that are sunny and 88°F. Should the power go out for a long time I've got 6KW of solar panels and a Tesla battery that during summer days can run my air conditioning, hot water, cooking, washing and 65" TV & 7.1 sound without problems. In Winter, I'd have to go easy on the heating and shower time and be sensible with cooking but could do most other thing so long as it was not heavily overcast all day. On continuously heavily overcast days (quite rare) I suspect I'd be OK with lights, basic cooking, quick shower and my laptop. It wouldn't take much sun or thinner clouds before I'd feel OK setting my thermostat to 60°F (it's lowest).
Sorry! :p;)

After a night of turning on and turning off turning on and turning off.... Power has been on for about an hour and a half now.......& it feels warmer. Thank God. I need things to get back to normal around here. (OK so normal for me because Lord knows........) Anyway thank you everybody for checking in on me. @Karajo ..... yeah I saw that idea on the Internet I didn’t have the stuff to put it together it’s really neat. Also the Crisco thing great idea.

@Kenna .... yeah the weather here is just nuts. Mother nature in Texas has moved on from having PMS to full menopause. She is all over the place. We normally don’t go below 25° F in winter. We rarely get ice or snow.
I wish I could do some of those power things that you have, unfortunately it’s not quite possible in my current situation.

I guess this means I can stop complaining about the weather and get back to whining about my life as usual.

Glad to hear you got your power back!

Having lived on an island, we are a bit "preppy". A power failure is an inconvenience here, but we stay warm, the freezer stays cold, we can cook, and we have running water. We even have solar hot water if the sun shines.

I hope your life returns to normal.

Nicole! Whining? Never!

I'm sure we could debate the best word, but it's definitely not "Whining".

Hey Nicole, I'm so glad the power is back on! :) I came across a YouTube article quoting the power company debunking the myths being put about about the cause of the power outages. The first couple of minutes describes the weather and then it quotes the myths followed by the debunk starting at about 4:15.

So it finally turned off again and then a half hour later kick back on. I have a feeling I’m now in a loop. Can I feels like Texas is doing what I used to do to my brother as a kid I would turn on office light just annoy him.

Either way it’s much warmer in the power I have right now is much better.

yeah we don’t really have any of that kind of stuff nor they invest in it, I don’t think life will come back to normal at least until after the weekend.

OK if it’s not whining .....then I guess it’s what ...complaining, moaning, griping, bitching, whimpering, crying, groaning ..............you know whining.....Lol

Yeah as usual the politicians would rather fight about who is to blame instead of just fixing it what’s new... ultimately the weather is actually to blame..... then we can make a list....Lol

I haven’t actually checked my freezer yet I haven’t wanted to open it hoping it would keep things OK, I get to sort out that mess today

I have survived another day in the frozen tundra we call Texas( seriously am I living in the twilight zone)
I had to bathe with warm water from my stove today but having heat in the house and the TV to turn on power to charge my stuff that was quite nice. No I can’t go anywhere because everything is completely iced over but a lot better than the situation I’ve been in.

I have to say that after I came out on Facebook over the weekend I have had a lot of extremely positive views and friends coming out of the woodwork since. So that parts been pretty great. I just wish to God I can get my brother to stop thinking it was funny to post a picture of me and him on siblings day from about three years ago. He knows I just came out does he really have to rub it in with my name and a picture of the old me. I’m not ashamed of being transgender but I don’t need to be triggered, just feels mean.

Maybe I’m just overreacting it’s quite possible. I guess I’m just a little bit depressed started thinking about my wife tonight and I’m having some real trouble. I thought if I came on here and make the round it would distract me a little bit. In other words I don’t have anything great to say I’m just posting to keep myself going.

OK I did that now

Hi Nicole, It's good that you're getting some power, although I gather it on and off a bit. At least it' giving the fridge a boost.
While I'm sure that your brother probably thinks he's being humorous it's clearly not taken that way. Can you decisively tell him to quit and remove the photo? It seems to me that decisiveness and assertiveness is needed. And to cap it off in in tough times the loss of Jennifer becomes hard again. I know that you'll get through this, but would focussing of the positives, such as the many great responses on Facebook, and what her likely reaction to them might have been, be a little celebration?
Hugs!
