I’m really pretty sick of work..... just a couple of bad days in a row. I may have to move up my timeline as far as looking for work. Oh well another day.

So tonight I get to take my first progesterone pill. It’ll be interesting to see if this helps at all. They say if you take it at night it could actually help you sleep too, so I look forward to this.

@Monica ....good angle I think. I am hoping though, as I lose weight more curves appear. Pretty crazy though how much my body has changed over the last year and a half. Also official at the doctors office I am actually 5 ‘7 now ( used to be 5’8 1/2)

@Donica ..... I don’t think I can pull off short shorts yet. My legs are still a bit too fat. I like the top two but believe it or not it’s not even a normal top that you could buy at the store it’s actually a bathing suit cover-up. I just really like the style of it and decided I’ll wear it as a shirt. Lol...

I appreciate both your comments, made me smile. Time to find my pajamas...night.

You need to take it with fatty foods, otherwise your liver will destroy about 75% of it. You also might want to ask your doctor to prescribe 200 mg for you for every night.

It did nothing for me. I'm thinking of quitting it.

It takes about 9 month until you see real changes from it. You are also required to take it with fatty foods, to prevent the first path through the liver (about 75% of it get's metabolized there), and it seems as if 200 mg is the newly recommended dosing.

I think with all medications mileage may vary. If there’s one thing I’ve learned with transition so far is all the medical experts all of the studies all of the ideas of what will work for one person or another can be thrown out the window most of the time. Some people things work well for, some people they just don’t. Some work well on injections some work better on pills. Some people progesterone is fantastic others not so much. I know I’ll give this a good attempt and if nothing happens, it just doesn’t.

Interesting day..... I was successful at my job, I got a good review, my voice was on the money today, I got a good walk in and talking to my mom. She has started to refer to me as female, her and my daughter. She even use the phrase ”now that you’re a woman” when trying to give me advice. I’d say that’s some positive momentum. My parents aren’t there yet but they’re trying. I’m gonna put this day in the win column.

Please know! This one size fits all HRT regimen is total BS. The reason some people don't respond well to treatment is because they need more. I am sick and tired of hearing YMMV BS. Please stop preaching this. Some simply need more than others. It's a simple fact of life. Your endocrinologist is too chickenshit to step beyond the outdated norms. It is for this reason I believe endo's have no business treating trans patients.

Wow! Well said! You are totally correct, and we deserve properly trained trangender specialist doctors to provide our care, but sadly there are none! The tragedy is that the suicide rate for trans people has not reduced in many decades, proving there has been no advancement in treatments since the mid 20th century, and this means thousands of trans people are dying for the lack of adequate treatment! We should all be very angry about this, and dig up the figures to be broadcast to the world on trans day of rememberance. Lack of adequate treatment is a form of genocide!

And who shall treat trans parents? There are some legal requirements endos have to follow, because they are licensed and registered physicians. This requires them to follow the rules set up by their professional society. We shall not forget that all the stuff they give us, is an off label application, and if something goes wrong (like you get a DVT, and probably die because of it) the prescribing doctor will be held responsible, and if this doctor did not follow the guidelines of their society, the insurance may not pay, and they may even lose their license to practice,

So, who is supposed to deal with trans persons?

I hardly think that you can get US politicians in many states (education is controlled by states, and not feds) to change the requirements of med schools to put transgender studies onto their lesson plans.
If anything they might outlaw trans even more, and they can care less about any trans day of remembrance!
We can dream about all wonderful, and ideal sounding things, but we have to remain realistic, and for the moment, we in the US, have to be happy that we get any care at all!

And that attitude is why thousands of Trans people are dying needlessly! If we don’t make noise things will only get worse. I have had my life threatened by poor health care, and I won’t stand for it! If we do nothing, we are complicit in the system trying to eradicate us!

Look at Arkansas, and you can see what noise is doing, and North Carolina seems to want to outdo Arkansas, by raising the minimum age to 21!
I think there are currently 27 states that try to outlaw transgender people. Making noise caused it to get worse in the US, it made them to get even more desire to eradicate transgender persons!
The US politics is an entirely different vehicle from anything I learned in Europe!

“All that Evil needs to triumph is for good people to do nothing” . Your rights are not given to you, they are won, but they can be taken away if you are not prepared to fight for them. Trans people are dying, what more motivation do you need?

I think public response is what made the governor back down. He said in a news conference he got almost a thousand emails. I am happy to be part of that group.

This just shows we need to get some of these idiots out of office. I am hoping this has raised that awareness for the next election! Hopefully not too many die before that.

And that is the only thing that works, be politically active. He knew clearly that his veto would be overridden, his veto was just for show purposes, as one can read in critical media reports.
As long as the public will vote the bozos in, nothing will change. The more demos or actions are taken, the more the voters will get scared, and the more solid those politicians will get voted in.

Trans organizations have to do actions on the political level, with less dramatic demos, and more door to door work. But that is work, and not much fun. When I was elected, I went door to door, and probably shook a million hands!

🚨 🚨 🚨 Warning Rant is Coming 🚨 🚨 🚨

What a long week of work, I’ve been averaging over 12 hours a day for the last 3 to 4 days it is so nice to have a day off. I figured I needed to take some time to check out trans refuge, read some blogs and such. Then I’d come over here to my own blog and see what was going on. Looks like a fire storm has hit after Donica comment. I’ll paraphrase a few things that Linde said that I’d like to address.
There are some legal requirements endos have to follow, because they are licensed and registered physicians. This requires them to follow the rules set up by their professional society. We shall not forget that all the stuff they give us, is an off label application, & if something goes wrong (like you get a DVT, & probably die because of it) the prescribing doctor will be held responsible, if this doctor did not follow the guidelines of their society, the insurance may not pay, & they may even lose their license to practice.

I see that @OzGirl & @Confused have both chimed in. Here are my thoughts.

🚨 🚨 🚨 Here we go 🚨 🚨 🚨

With all due respect Linde, this is why they need transgender specialists in the United States very much like Planned Parenthood has already started to put together. Also like very many clinics that are popping up for transgender care including surgeries, counseling & after care. I think the specialty needs to be taught and endocrinologist need to be properly educated, before they can continue to work on patients.. It makes zero sense for a doctor not to update what they do with the new modern education. I have to have a heart transplant, I don’t want them doing it as is if it was 1960. It’s irresponsible for the medical community to continue to treat transgender people with knowledge that was learned in the 80s. That’s not on the US politicians, that’s on the medical community, as far as I’m concerned they need to lose ther license over that instead. Losing their practice should happen immediately. Honestly speaking they shouldn’t call it a practice anymore anyway. It’s not an exhibition match when we show up, it’s game time, they need to get their shit together.

I may act like an idiot sometimes, but I actually am quite well educated in my field. I continuously train to keep up with every modern thing that has to do with entomology. That’s my job. Someone’s going to spend $1500 to treat termites around their home, I better well know what kind of termites they are, where are they are coming from, & what the best treatment is for them. There throwing there money away otherwise. It’s there house, which is their biggest investment and their shelter in life. It will be destroyed.
Why would I possibly want to keep throwing money at an endocrinologist who is simply practicing on me as a guinea pig knowing that my body could be destroyed.

As far as the US politicians we currently have a few transgender sympathetic people in Office. We also have some transgender people who are in office of their own. The tide is changing, things are changing, it’s just moving slow. How do we keep this moving, by being active and not just saying “well it’ll never gonna get better, that’s just how it is....” I say it’s time to stand up. First thing they need to do is stop calling us second class citizens, were the same humans they see every day. Some are diagnosed with diabetes, some diagnosed with a heart problem, others are diagnosed with a skin disease ....who knows. We’re diagnosed with transgender. Now treat us with the latest and greatest knowledge you have.

What politicians can do and what we can fight for is to make sure that transgender care is exactly the same as any other medical care. We’re not doing this on a whim, we’re doing this because we have a medical condition that needs to be treated. They need to start respecting us in the medical community as someone who has a medical problem....period. Insurance companies need to be made to pay for these medical problems. They pay for heart attacks, heart transplants, valve replacements. Why not pay for an actual medical condition like as per your job as an insurance company. We pay you money to be there when we have a medical condition, period!

I mean it’s not like we go to the person who has a possible diabetic coma and simply say “guess you shouldn’t have that chocolate bar “........Nope, they treat.
If they had a heart attack do they say
“you know what ....that’s your fault ....you eat too many greasy burgers ...we’re not gonna pay for it too bad. “
Nope they jump in and then get immediate approval, they have the heart worked on ASAP.

So how do we get this change .....it’s by standing up and fighting for it.
I’m doing just that. I have requested to talk to the head of our insurance provider to go over there disregard for transgender people at our company.
I will have our diversity president and also the head of our pride organization who are both set up with the task of making my company as diverse and LGBTQ+ friendly as possible. (They keep putting out propaganda of how great they are and how they are the kind of company that the LGBT community should trust, it’s time to put the money where the mouth is) I will be sitting with those two at the meeting going over my concerns. I can either be an advocate at the company or I could be one royal pain in their ass. And I’ve got a federal law on my side. My meeting is on Wednesday, I don’t expect immediate change but anything that’s good takes time as long as we keep moving forward and not giving up. my plans for the future are you go out in the public and fight more for us. It’s time for change.

Ok I said my 2 cents..( well maybe it was about a buck and a half, but)

Now back to my regularly scheduled stupidity. ......All of that said, I still do have one question .....how can I get my damn mascara and eyeliner to stop smearing the bottom of my eyes? I only put on the basic amount. It’s supposed to be waterproof.

You are right Nicole, one should expect this. I have not seen a curriculum of some med schools lately, but when I went to the school, I got my degree from, nothing about either trans not intersex was taught to us. I have my doubts that most docs who see us, have learned anything about people like us either. For many politicians, we are the dream targets to profile themselves to their conservative/religious voters. Gay bashing was taken away, after gays became mainstream, kind of, and we are here to replace them and provide a group that can be bashed. We are also a far smaller group than gays are, and thus we have not as much voting cloud as they have. And reading through some Facebook forums, trans people are still fighting among each other who is trans enough, etc.
As long as nothing is changing on that front, each of us has to be their own advocate. That is the reason that I am now with my 4th endo, and my third therapist, because the others did not address my needs, and I did not want to see them because they had nice office furniture, but I had and have needs that need to be addressed.

One of my parts of activism was to work with Katie to create this forum, and the way it sounds, we have hit it right, because there was definitely a need for a group like this. I still do a lot of small group education around this area.
Each of us has to do their job the way they see a need for it and the way they can help to educate others.

Hugs
