I’m learning lots new terms on this site. I hope I’m using “transition “ correctly. I feel like I’m in the process of becoming a woman. I’ve always been fairly effeminate without trying but now I consciously try to act and speak more like a female. Not in an exaggerated way but a little more than subtle. While HRT is not for me right now, I really, really want female breasts so I’m trying to make the most of what I have. I haven’t discussed my transition with anyone not on this site, but pretty much don’t care if people know or suspect that it is happening. So I guess I’m going through a slow, gradual transition. It’s very exciting but at times confusing. Suzie

@SuzieO you are right about there being a lot of new words. Can be confusing as sometimes they mean different things to different people.

Transition means different things to different people. Some see it as becoming a woman. For me it's not transitioning to become a woman but to transition my body or outside to line up with my mind or inside. The transition is to living openly as a woman.
Part of figuring out that I was transgender was realizing that I always was a girl/woman, even when I was trying not to be.

I agree with @TonyaJanelle on the use of „transition“ but also wanted to say that „to transition“ to me is such a wonderful verb, because it is so seldom used in the English language as an active verb and although it is quite clear in its literal meaning, having „transit“ in it, it - to me at least - has a dreamlike quality to it of a mythical journey, of something you undertake and don’t merely “do”.

If I had to pick a song, a music that has that same dreamlike quality to it, that would be the perfect traveling music for this mythical journey of transitioning, it would have to be this - pure magic .... 👌

Transition is a broad term that generally just means to change from one state to another. What that means for each of us is always unique.

Suzie, for me transition meant to change my body and myself from the mostly male presentation to a female presentation. I have what I would call, arrived, an don't consider myself trans anymore, transition was the process to bring me there where I am and also like to be. I am now a woman, without any prefix, if anything I would rather use cis these days.
You do not need HRT to transition. I lived full time as a woman prior to me ever having heard about HRT, and I went on mostly because I need to prove my time on it to be eligible for GRS (Gender Reassignment Surgery). However, estrogen is mostly the only way for many trans women to experience breast growth. I strongly recommend to stay away from any OTC stuff promising breast development, it will not work, but may foul your estrogen receptors.

Hugs

The transition is to living openly as a woman.
Or for a trans man, to live openly as a man!
One could also transition to non binary as well.
(Not to correct the inimitable Tonya!)

Of course. I was babbling specific to myself, as I'm wont to do.

You're expanding my thoughts so others may relate is quite welcome.

Suzie don't worry too much about the right words. You can ask but also some of them mean different things to different people. But the more you interact with other members of the trans community the more you will pick up on the words. But we don't bite you can ask. Everyone is very nice here.

For ME transition means to start living as another gender than you were previously living. Whether that be male to female - female to male or either to non binary. Oops there I go giving you another word to worry about. LOL

Non Binary is generally someone that alters their gender presentation in a fluid fashion and/or identifies as something different that the traditional gender roles. But that is in the next class. LOL.

Suzie, welcome to this awesome journey! Some folks look at transition as a series of medical steps to change body parts or shapes or body chemistries. Then there is voice pitch and intonations and melodic flows and walk and talk....yes, lots of details. Don't get wrapped up in the details because there is lots of time to get settled into them and no one cis or trans does them the same. The neatest thing for me is that my entire way of thinking, my way of looking at the world, of seeing and accepting people, of caring, changes. Joining sisterhood is joining a part of life that men just don't and can't understand.

Take your time, watch, learn, ask questions, seek out like minded sisters to learn from and most of all, enjoy the journey. Welcome to the tribe.

Thank you Tia. I really appreciate the warm welcome and encouragement. I have already noticed that positive change in thinking that you mention, it is so fantastic and that is what makes me so excited to progress in this wonderful journey. Thanks again your kind words mean a lot. Hugs, Suzie
