I find a handful of YouTube meditations and hypnosis posts, to be quite comforting and eye opening. I’m not addressing the smut. I feel that a great deal of our unanswered personal puzzles are alive and well in our subconscious. Meditation releases so much that we are repressing. Anybody else have isimilar experiences?

Julie, actually I'm curious about mediation, but always felt that I had no clue as to how to do it. A friend of mine who decided not to transition used to deal with dysphoria through meditation. She seemed to have some success with it.

Eastern Orthodox prayer is very similar to traditional meditation (both stemming from Eastern traditions). Even just reciting the prayers twice a day has really improved my ADHD and self control and general well being.

So do you sit there and just try to empty your mind or focus yourself on something? I never understood the whole thing. How do you know you are doing it well enough to achieve a benefit?

I usually lie down. For me, it very similar to the state that I experience, just before falling asleep. My mind is still aware, but the outside trash that typically is screaming at me, is gone. Yes, I’m an uptight person.

Haha, yeah, I get being uptight. I prefer to call it unmanaged persistent tension. LOL I think I've done what you are saying before, but then I do fall asleep. I realize, as I'm talking to you, that I don't take any time anymore to just take time to do nothing, think of nothing. It's a consequence of the world we live in I guess.

It is worth the investment of time. After meditation, I’m mor focussed, more productive, and the people in my life seem to like me more. 😎
