Hello Zara, welcome here with us! Yes, HRT seems to make us look younger, it seems to work pretty well for me! I am absolutely the oldest person here in the forum!
Before you do anything concerning surgery, give HRT a good chance to do it's magic, and magic it will do, a little more with some, a little less with others.

My avatar picture was taken last week, and I did not have any facial surgery (actually, I had no surgery except GRS), and I don't wear any makeup either. It is all the work of HRT over time.
So give HRT a chance to work with your looks, you might turn out to look stunning!

Linde
Hi Linde,

Your avatar picture is lovely, you're gorgeous! I can tell that you feel young and beautiful so that's all what really matters and age is just digits IMO.

As for those digits, I think we all should deduct a year due to 2020's pandemic, that year doesn't count as far as our aging :)

I know that over time HRT will make more changes but I'm having such a hard time to see myself presenting as my true self, women with male characteristics, especially Adam's apple. Perhaps my view on this will change over time as I see some changes on my face after HRT changes the fat on the face and hair is removed fully but as of the moment I'm planning to do FFS ASAP, hopefully next year this time since insurance requires to be on HRT for at least a year.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words, I look forward for those magical changes.

Hugs

Hi Zara,
Yes HRT is magic for sure. I don't know if it made me look any younger....but I sure feel younger. That might have something to do with finally allowing my true self to come out and be free.

We have a couple of other Texas girls on the forum too. @NicoleT and @Madrhode are both from there.

Welcome to the site...hope you enjoy the Zoom meetings. They're really fun.
Hi Lexxi!

You're so beautiful! I absolutely agree that what you feel matters the most and allowing your true self to come out will definitely make you happy as I feel so happy after I came out.

I know people, mostly cis guys that are 35 years old but look and act as they are 60 and life is almost over for them.

I think I still feel like I'm 21, perhaps I have a young soul and hope the HRT will do some magic for me.

Thanks for a heads up about local girls, I look forward meeting everyone!

Hugs

Hi Zara! Welcome to our little corner of the web. It’s a great group of folx here and an added bonus... the website itself is pretty cool, intuituve and rather user friendly.

And I know I haven’t been very active lately but Lexxi (@Lexxi) don’t forget me! Zara, I’m a Texas gal as well! Ok... technically my gender is an enby but through the magic of hormone therapy, like you, I’m shapeshiting from male to female. I’m a couple hours down the road from you in H-town.

Welcome!
Wren

Wren,
Please forgive me for leaving you out. I didn't know you were from Texas. But now I do and hopefully I won't forget it.

@zara.monroe thank you for the kind words. They're much appreciated!! I've always been young at heart too. In actual years I'm 52 but in spirit years I'm only about 30. Hell I still play video games nearly every day. lol

Hi everyone!

Name: Zara
Location: Austin, TX
Pronounce: She/Hers
Age: 41 - hope HRT will give me some years back :)

I spoke with Alice earlier today on zoom and she suggested that I join this forum as I've been looking for a support group. She mentioned that there is a support group on Zoom on Friday's and I'd love to join and meet like minded people.

After years of denial I finally decided to move forward and transition. I started HRT little over a month ago and can't wait to see the changes.

I'm from Austin, TX area but unfortunately due to Covid, the support group has been suspended so I don't really know anyone IRL that I could meet in person and support each other. I hope that life will get back normal soon and support groups will be back to operational.

I came out only to few family members so far and not really good at makeup skills and in general not confident yet, so my apologies that I don't feel comfortable yet to post my non-filtered picture but I'm sure after some changes with HRT and some makeup skills I will post, for now I'm posting a faceapp picture which I believe and hope that can be achieved with FFS and HRT over the years.
Welcome to the forum Zara. We all understand the dysphoria and no judgements at all on the filtered pics. Your makeup skills will definitely get there so no worries. I’ve always found that less is more and once you get a good skin care/makeup routine down it’ll become second nature. Anyway, I hope your comfortable here :)

Hi Zara,

Welcome to TransRefuge. I haven't been responding too much lately as I am fresh out of surgery, but I think you will find like minded friends here.

Zara.....Welcome aboard.... so happy to have you here. You have found a safe supportive place. Please be sure to wander around, check out each of the blogs, grab a comfortable seat, there is snacks in the kitchen, something cold to drink in the fridge ....just help yourself....Lol...

Im excited that you’re starting your journey to find your truth. It’s a very scary path ahead, but with the right support and staying true to yourself you can make it. HRT is amazing but slow. That’s OK you need time for your mind to evolve during this process anyway. That’s for looking younger. I have noticed that with everybody (except me...... i’m in my 40s and most people take me as a woman who’s .........in her 40s....View attachment 1991....oh well... I definitely look more feminine and I have changed an awful lot)

Now for all the Texas talk going on........ guilty!..... I live about one hour north of you. Hope to see you on zoom.

Hugs

Hi Nicole!

Thank you so much! It's definitely scary but I feel as days go by I feel brave and slowly stop caring what the society has to say and dictate how we should live our lives. Let me know when you travel to Austin area, I'd love to meet up!

I had such a great time yesterday and planning to join tonight as well!

Thank you all for your support, it feels really great not to be alone with all these thoughts and hangout with like minded people where you can be yourself.

Hi Emma!

Thank you! I'm so glad that you girls are Ok that I'm using faceapp picture for now, my makeup skills suck and dysphoria is kicking my butt. I can't wait for some E magic to happen and learn a bit how to apply makeup so I can use all my wigs and wardrobe during our meetings :)

Hi Zara, how are you? My name is Monica or Moni (Like Bonnie). Sorry I'm a bit late greeting you. Glad to hear you are hitting the zoom meetings. I'll try to get on tonight after being MIA for a while. My basic function on the site is to give Kim a hard time. Glad to hear you were able to be yourself. One of these days, I'm gonna meet Mike on zoom. I digress! Anyway, welcome and I look forward to hearing your story more.

Zara..... please come as you are whether it’s all dolled up or not, it’s not what it’s about. There is no judgment at these meetings. Also we’ve all been where you are. I still feel dysphoria every time I see my picture, But I don’t know always see what everybody else sees.

Now, If you need to use a face app picture to feel confident then please do that, that’s the image that your hoping to see. It’s OK. It can actually give you something to strive for. Your make up skills will take time, but you can get there and be very good at it. The E is a bit magical on the body ( patience though it’s very slow)but you need your mind to evolve too. There is a bunch to deal with here.

You have made a major decision in your life, you know who you are that’s fantastic, but accepting yourself it’s a much longer process. It will bring some tougher times for the friends and family relationships and will definitely put you in some awkward stages.
Thats alright, you can get through all of this. This journey is a roller coaster, it will definitely have some major ups and downs,

I’m rooting for you to be successful. Next time I’m in town and I have enough time to actually stop to get lunch or something. I’ll see if you’re available. I have another friend who’s down your way also, we’ve been threatening to meet each other since last year. ( damn Covid) Hang in there, I look forward to seeing you on more of the meetings.

Hi Nicole!

I definitely feel better using faceapp picture for now. The good news is that I have my FFS scheduled in August so I'm really excited about that.

I'm working on my makeups skills, I feel I'm getting better at it but it might just be me :) E definitely looks magical but I don't see any changes yet, perhaps it way too early, only 2 months on E.

I've heard about the awkward stages but now I feel it on my own skin. I don't really feel to go anywhere anymore, even though most of my friends accepted me and some of them are also very supportive. I feel ashamed, I feel when I go to someone's house party, everyone knows about me being transgender but not asking any questions. I'm so shy to even talk about it, I don't know how to become confident about my identity and have my head up. I hope by time I'll become confident.

Thank you so much for your support! I'd love to meet when you're in town, please let me know.

Hugs
