Hello- my name is Elijah and I’m a trans ftm. I’m a teen and I’m currently struggling with my identity and I don’t know what to do. I just need people to talk to about this- it’s confusing as hell lol

Hey Elijah, nice to meet you! I go by Collie around here, at least for now.
I'm in the same direction as you are, preeeettty sure I'm ftm but at least heavy genderfluid but lately that doesn't seem to be cutting it. It is indeed confusing as hell.
I don't have a lot of advice cuz I'm only 20 and still figuring out a lot of stuff myself but I would be happy to talk to you and get to know you. :)

Hi Elijah,

Welcome to the refuge. I am on the opposite path, and much older than you. See what my profile name is? Some parts of this only became clear to me in the last year or two. I think you will find this is a friendly and informative place. Even though we all have different paths, we can all help each other.

Welcome Elijah, glad you are here. Collie is a very good person to talk to. Perhaps you have things in common, age, direction of change? Happy you are seeking others to talk to. It made a big difference for me.

Hi Elijah and welcome to Transrefuge.
As Moni said, talking to others is really helpful. Collie and a few others are going your direction and as Collie referred to us last night, your trans aunties are here to listen also.

Hello Collie, it’s so confusing- I just started my journey in October once I truly found out what being trans truly meant. And I feel isolated from people in my life- that’s why I came here.
When did you start questioning?

Hi, Elijah, welcome to the site. Finding other guys to talk to about this stuff seems perplexingly difficult. Where are all of the trans guys hiding? Anyway, we do have some great guys here who can offer their perspective and help you find your way.

Katie, obviously it takes a seed to grow a plant. It means the first trans guys or the first intersex folks or the first whatever, starting the conversation, putting out there what they are thinking. That conversation might seem lonely at first, but it can build like a snowball rolling down hill. Elijah, your journey is going to start off confusing as hell. Most everyone's does. Talking to others, finding some answers, that will start to clarify things and your path can start to become clearer. Don't panic, things won't always be so confusing.

@Elijah’sChoas just a tip. If you want to draw someone's attention to something you wrote, write it in the form of @CrackDown29 with no punctuation close to it. Someone who would want to answer, might not see it lost in the threads otherwise.

Funny enough, I only got serious about searching up if I was trans in October too! I had moments before, up to two years ago, but it wasn't really serious or from the right mindset. It was only a few months ago that I could be in a place to start searching deep in me.

Elijah - I totally get you. Being in a pandemic makes it tough enough to connect with friends, and struggling wrth your gender identity can make it feel even harder to talk to friends. Idk where you're from but for me, sorting out my gender has definitely made it a lot harder for me to talk to my old friends. It's something that's constantly on your mind but you don't feel like you can talk to them about it.

Just remember that whatever you figure out is valid and truly you. See ya around here ;)

Lol really? That makes me feel a lot less isolated. And the connection with friends- that HITS. I can’t even connect with them on a personal level really- no one really understands how I feel when I tell them. I wish I could just go up to my parents and just tell them something solid but it’s just like I can’t even open my mouth.
And thank you, see you around bro 😌

Speaking to other people about dysphoria and the confusion that comes with it is one of the reasons why I joined the community. I wanted to get some reassurance that this was normal and that I would truly find my identity.
And what do you mean by write it in the form of Crackdown29? Could you clarify?

Yeah, exactly! My problem is that most of the kids I know are in a rather conservative environment, and just have different goals and mindsets from mine. Which is okay, but it also means I dont know where to start with them.

And oh my god the wanting to talk but then your mouth just won't open -- that's me. For sooo long, that's been me. Don't be hard on yourself, it takes time to figure out who you are let alone how to approach loved ones about it. It'll come together :)

See you around too, mate ;)
