Got my Ears pierced! :)

Hey everyone this is Violet, I recently have begun going out in feminine clothing and a full face of makeup. It has felt really good to be myself in public. I’m still misgendered pretty much by everyone, but my deep voice doesn’t do many any favors for me . Anyways, I went and got my ears pierced recently; the experience was very exciting and the people there were very kind and accepting they called me by my preferred name and used the correct pronouns. I feel a little closer to being my true self even if it is just holes in my earlobes.

I remember when I go my ears pierced, I was so scared that one of my female friends came along o hold my hands.
I am currently trying to set up a voice training program with a few people from here. It will be done through Skype, you are welcome to participate, just let me know!

Violet...congrads, it’s all first steps to much better ones. your doing great. I was scared to get mine done it turned out to be a whole bunch of nothing. @Ericamaev1 ....pain is very quick and over so fast. If you have ever gotten a shot of a blood draw you can do it. I do recommend going to a actual piercer to do it. Do use an actual needle which is easier more sanitary and better than the gun at those little pop-up earring stores. Cost is similar but they also have Sterilize equipment and can put in pure silver just in case your ear will have a reaction otherwise.
As long as you clean them and such your good. Earrings make you feel so much better.

The anticipation of the pain was way worse than the pain itself. The pain was just like a needle poked me, and before I knew it, it was over and the retainer stud was in my ear lobes.

Nicole, I would want to differ, I have tattoos and I have my ears pierced. Nothing can be as fast and precise as one of those guns (that's why we use similar guns for some surgical procedures). Wiping them clean and dipping them into alcohol sterilizes those instruments pretty well, way better than a poorly maintained sterilizer in a piercing shop.
However, I would go into a real shop (and did this), not just to a stand in a mall.

Where those little pop-up earring shops have some teenager with a gun, where she hopes she got it right. I go to professionals every time. My daughter got hers done when she was younger at a earring shop, they were uneven and got infected. Maybe things are more sterile in Texas. The guy who did mine could not have been nicer..

I go to the tattoo shop in Fort Myers that has the best reputation, my speciality is infection control stuff, I know what to look for. But I had my ears done at a jewelry store by, what seems to me, a professional person. I had no infections (but that depends a lot on the aftercare one does).

@Ericamaev1 it only hurts for a second, the main feeling is pressure on the earlobes. If it is done with a needle.

Congrats, @Violet . Start practicing voice training exercises as soon as possible. You can have good results relatively quickly and have the most difficult part of transitioning out of the way
