Pamela, I follow other forums on Trans HRT, and it is generally agreed that changing administration methods every 18 months to 2 years can kick start results again. Those on injections benefit from adding pills for 3 months or so to their regimen. I will be committed to inserted pellets for a couple of years (has already been 6 months), but will supplement with Gels or patches for a couple of months each year when the levels begin to drop, and until I can get new pellets inserted.

Hugs,

Allie
Allie and Pamela,

Good to know that it is good to switch methods. In my case, patches did not work at all and I don't know why. Mine were the Vivelle Dot 2.5 mg twice a week.

Trough reading. Still at very low dose, with no blocker. Dr is fine, but I'm wondering why E is high, compared to others on higher doses.
It's difficult to draw a smaller dose than what I'm taking. Barely anything in the syringe now.

If my levels were low I'd probably worry about that too ;)

Stay healthy everyone

@Maddie, we are all so very different in our uptake of hornones, so don’t put too much weight in others results. Your reading does seem high, how long after a dose did you have your blood drawn, and please show the units for this level ( assuming they are pgml/l ??).

Trough reading (in this case, day six after weekly IM injected dose estradiol valerate)
E reading = pg/ML
T reading = ng/dL

I forgot to figure in that I'm taking a nightly small dose E tablet now, so it's not as much of a trough as without that.

My weekly dose is very low. Something like 1/4, or less, of what others are started on at the very beginning of ramp up HRT.

The Dr is ok with my levels.
Vitals and other blood work have been good, for which I'm grateful.

My breasts are not sore ever. From what I've read described here, I think I'll notice that, if it ever happens.

. . . took my first injection this morning!
OMG WHERE? Bathroom, bedroom, out behind Arkansas woodshed? (kidding!) Been doing 23g 1" points at "alternating 2/3 quadrant outer thigh(s)" with great success! ('cause "scrub lingual" didn't seem to work well at all!)
Did ya need "help"?

I'll just say I wasn't out behind the woodshed. Sounds like you have experienced Arkansas. It was the 2/3 quadrant method.

The provider had me practice to show me how to inject before I got my prescription. (differently than someone else here showed me) Evidently I had my leg muscle tensed when I tried my left leg. It hurt like hell, but it didn't hurt in the right leg. Now I am scared to try the left side again, but I will get there. I injected myself, but my next injection will be by my wife since I had surgery on my left hand yesterday.

Yes @Donna , I have been looking forward to this for some time.

Hugs,
Mike

Hello again

Following my disappointing E result in August of 463 Intl 126 US, my endo agreed increase of my E Gel (and Progesterone tablets) and advised to take in 2 doses, morning and evening each day.

Consequently this system results in 2 peaks and 2 troughs. Therefore I must change my customary time to draw blood from afternoon to next morning before first dose to hopefully attain the necessary trough reading.

I do not understand why an increase of your progesterone (the ideal amount seems to be between 200 and 300 mg, following a recently published British Mega Study) would do anything to your E levels?
My new endo, a UK educated female doctor from South Africa, keeps me at 220 to 260 (US) + 200 mg progesterone, and I feel very comfortable with this.

Just to clarify that endo advised increase of both E&P as 2 separate matters really.

Endo agreed increase of E appropriate (not necessarily permanently but for 6 months to start and then look again). Endo then looked at P dosage which was very low at 100mg per day and advised it was appropriate to double to 200mg per day. I was a little surprised also but again we can look again after 6 months.

That 200 to 300 mg dosing came as a result of a British study, and one should assume that your endo read this as well?

Yes indeed. I would hope my endo reads British studies at least and better still, some from other countries also.
