Mike, I think this willbe challenged, because it pretty much violates federal law.

I'd say it won't stand up in court but trump and the turtle man have spent the last 4 years packing the courts with unqualified conservative judges.
We need to kill the filibuster pass federal laws overturning this shit.

I certainly hope so Linde, but that might take some time. I was already concerned about possible treatment at my local hospital. This just adds to that fear. There is a hospital about 50 miles North of me I think can go to, but that might be a long trip, depending on the reason I might need to go. Still, it beats the drive to Kansas City.

I have a PCP appointment next month. I guess I'll find out soon if that can still happen.

Hugs,
Mike

I’m so sorry this law has caused you some worry Mike. I hope your doc eases your mind and sticks to their hippocratic oath.

My wife and I have been planning and talking out hopes and dreams for a few years... (well before I came out to her as an enby) about moving from Texas and where we’d like to live the next half of our lives.

We visited NW Arkansas and fell in love with the scenery and the people were really nice. I’m afraid that location has been taken off the list for now.

I hope things work out for you Mike and that you’re able to continue with your treatment without stress or worry.

Thanks Wren.

I live in Trump land and most of my neighbors, friends, & family are solidly in the "R" lane. I have one neighbor that is not. I have had many discussions over the years with politicians here on both sides of the aisle both in person and through emails. I managed to get along with all of them.

While I am against what the new sports bill does, this one made me come out of the shadows. I just posted something on my Facebook that may upset a few of them, and cause them to block me. If it does, I say "Que Sera Sera," or to the younger ones "Hakuna matata"

Hugs,
Mike

@TonyaJanelle mentioned the turtle packing the court with conservative judges. So far it's been a big bust for them. The conservative Supreme Court has voted against them quite a bit, and I haven't heard anything about any federal judges doing anything horrible yet. It seems like even though some judges are obviously unqualified, something is making them actually uphold the law instead of running roughshod over it like we all expected.

Now that doesn't mean that's going to be the case tomorrow...I'm just pointing out that the horribleness hasn't come to pass as of yet....thank God!! I know that's driving the right side insane.

With all that said please, please, please, don't think I'm defending conservatives, because I'm definitely NOT doing that. I think they're the most horrible, greedy, self-serving people this world has ever produced. They're only out for themselves and care nothing about their fellow humans. Well that's not actually correct...they do care a whole lot about imposing their religious beliefs and dictates on everyone else, all while they themselves avoid practicing Christianity as much as possible. They only want to make the rest of us suffer the worst parts of their bible.

Like Linde said hopefully some federal judge has a backbone and throws that bigoted law right out the window.

They're just not going to give up are they. Tenacious hatred, coupled with ancient stupidity.

I'm just going to toss this into the discussion:

Luke 10:25-37,
25 And behold, a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?” 27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.” 29 But wanting to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
30 Jesus replied and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he encountered robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead. 31 And by coincidence a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan who was on a journey came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, 34 and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return, I will repay you.’ 36 Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?” 37 And he said, “The one who showed compassion to him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.”

Maybe I will write a lengthy commentary on this topic later in the week. There's a lot to be said about the religious hypocrisy happening right now.

Katie, even an atheist like me agrees with this. Of course, I am a little skeptical on the lawyer making it!

Thanks, @Monica . The lawyer in the story does exactly what today's evangelicals and conservative Christians are attempting to do: redefine who is their neighbor. The term neighbor in the ancient middle east meant more than just someone living next door. It meant kinship, which entailed an obligation of welfare to your kin. The Jews and the Samaritans were blood kin, but they hated each other. The lawyer was trying to infer that there must be exceptions to the idea of caring for those around you. Jesus reprimanded him with this parable.

Somebody turned on the HATE valve. Beginning to wonder if I need to move. WPATH already controls this:

But minors can still receive treatment with a parents consent right? That is if the parents haven't thrown their child out into the streets for being trans. You wouldn't think so but it's a big problem in California. We have a number of private and state funded programs that I know of in SoCal that provide support and housing for our homeless transgender youth, some providing help and housing up to the age of 24. We have great programs to help with their education and career training, help finding jobs, help with medical needs, so they can become self-sufficient members of society. Something their parents should have done, but didn't, because their child was nothing more than a status symbol to them. It's so sad that such hateful people exist in the world.

Donica, I haven't read the wording of the law, but given the current political climate here, I don't think parental consent matters. They certainly don't have the programs to help as California does.

Mike

You know that they will not stop with this? They are on a roll, and will make people like us to be illegal in that state!

I hope you are wrong Linde, but afraid you might be right. I think some of it will eventually be challenged, but who knows how long that will take?

We have to face the fact that we are the new gay's. They have their lives now protected by rock solid federal laws. But those religious zealots need new targets to be able to confirm their need to be the upholders of moral values.

Here we are the TRANS, they find bible verses that tells them that we are abominations, and brought to the world by devils work. We are currently at the point gays were in the early 50's, and we are promising to be good for at least an entire decade of hateful actions against us.
I think if Biden does not make some federal laws fast that protect us, I think I can say "you ain't seen nothing yet babe!"

I was working outside today and the more I thought about it the madder I got. I got on facebook and told our local news site what I thought. I think I may have lost a distant cousin because of the conversation I had to have with her afterwards in messenger. I probably should have calmed down before I engaged with her. I didn't come out, but they all now know I am an advocate.

Next I contacted my governor and state rep by email. I may not have changed anything, but it made me feel better. I guess this may be a good day for this?

Hugs,
Mike
